Resumen:
The epsilon parameter of Akasofu has been estimated from the hourly data contained in the NSSDC OMNIWeb system, for the period 1964-2005, as a measure of the magnetospheric energy input. The relative importance of this parameter during the intense substorms on May 15 and August 24, 2005, is analyzed with respect to the entire available period.
