Resumen:
Mitochondrial nitric oxide synthase (mtNOS) is a protein constitutive of the inner mitochondrial membrane recognized in liver, brain, heart, thymus, and kidney. Its enzymatic activity generates an intramitochondrial steady state [NO] of about 40 nM that exerts a regulatory functional activity in modulating (a) cytochrome oxidase activity and respiration, and b) mitochondrial H2O2 production.
