Resumen:
High temperature is a major environmental stress that causesplant growth arrest and that greatly reduces the yield and theproduct quality of crops worldwide. In our lab, we found thatheat stress (HS) triggers a cell death pathway that resemblesferroptosis, an iron-dependenttype of cell death described firstin tumor cells. Ferroptosis can be specifically prevented bytreating cells with the iron-chelatingagent ciclopiroxolamine (CPX) or with the lipophilic antioxidant ferrostatin-1(Fer-1).RNAseq experiments and differential expression studies showedthat GATA, TCP and AP2/EREBP transcription factor genes areup-regulated in plants treated with ferroptosis inhibitors. Here, we examine whether the overexpression of differenttranscription factor (TF) genes is able to preventferroptosis-likecell death in Arabidopsis after HS stress. Transgenic linesoverexpressing four different GATA genes are studied anddifferent aspects of development and stress response are shown.
