Resumen:
Non–isothermal curing kinetics of mixtures of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) using methyl-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (MTHPA) as curing agent and 1-methyl imidazole (1MI) as initiator was studied. The system ESO/MTHPA exhibited lower reaction enthalpy and higher peak temperatures values than DGEBA/MTHPA synthetic system due to the lower reactivity of internal oxirane groups in ESO. The kinetic parameters of pure systems ESO/MTHPA and DGEBA/MTHPA were obtained from the calorimetric data through a multiparametric regression analysis using a phenomenolgical kinetic model. The kinetics of pure systems was used to predict that of the mixtures taking into account the interactions between DGEBA and ESO. The model predicted adequately the kinetics of the curing process of pure systems and stoichiometric mixtures using parameters independent on the heating rate. This model has potential for processing of such materials.
