We performed photometric observations (CCD UBV) in the area of the three open clusters belonging to the Vela - Puppis -Canis Major region (Ruprecht 60, Ruprecht 47, Ruprecht 20). The data analysis allowed us to compute the fundamental parameters of these objects. We estimated for the first time the distance, reddening and age of Ruprecht 60. We could obtain a better definition of the main sequence of Ruprecht 47, getting an important change of the assigned distance to this cluster. In addition, we performed spectroscopic observations of some of the brightest stars in the field of Ruprecht 20 and we discuss the nature of this object.
