Primates living outside protected areas come into conflict with humans when damaging commercial forest plantations. In the Atlantic Forest of Misiones, Argentina, conflicts between black capuchin monkeys (Sapajus nigritus) and pine (Pinus spp.) forestry companies have taken place during more than 20 years. The aim of our project is to evaluate this problem across the province as a socio-ecological system, collecting data of forestry companies that keep records of the conflict, and comparing the perceived and the estimated damage of monkeys to plantations. The implementation of this project will improve our knowledge of the variables involved in this growing conflict.
