Albardondepartment  is located within an area ofthe country with the greater  seismichazard.An analysis ofthe seismic hazard and vulnerability  inthe Albardon department (located 12 kilometers north of San Juan city) isperformed. The investigation is first focused on the evaluation of how the singular buildings and life linesof the urban zones are distributed and also on the characterization of La Lajafault zone location as a seismogenic source.A greatpercentage of adobe buildings exists in Albardon, especially in the proximitiesof the historic rupture of the 1944 earthquake of ML=7.4 that causedaround 10.000 deaths and a significant damage to the economy of the region.If a futureearthquake with  similar characteristicsto the 1944 event were to happen, the magnitude of damage to buildings andaccess paths would be equally serious to that which resulted from the 1944earthquake.Populationexposition of Albardón  department beforean earthquake with similar characteristics of 1944 earthquake, is referred to the extension, quantity and qualityof the various anthropomorphic elements that compose the territorial reality(population, buildings, infrastructure system) whose conditions and operationcan be damaged, altered or destroyed by a seismic event.
