Resumen:
The recent availability of high-quality global distribution data has created new opportunities for historical biogeography. A data matrix of species, genera and families of mammals of the World was analyzed employing phenetic clustering obtaining remarkable results on biogeography divisions of the world (Kreft & Jetz 2010, Journal of Biogeography 37, 2029-2053). Here, we reanalyze the data focusing on spatial concordance, according to the concept of areas of endemism. Given the magnitude of this task (a grid consisting of 110x360 grid-cells, and about 5700 taxa with some dependence in the simultaneous inclusion of higher taxa and their constituting species), special algorithms and protocols are required. These, as well as results, will be discussed in this presentation.
