Background. Different reactivities of saphenous veingrafts in hypertensive and normotensive patients couldlead to differences in the postoperative patency of thegrafts.Methods. In saphenous vein rings isolated from remnantsof aorta-coronary grafts obtained from hypertensiveand normotensive patients we studied the lengthtensionrelationship; response to high levels of potassium,norepinephrine, and epinephrine; and relaxation in responseto calcium deprivation.Results.
