Resumen:
Nanoporous materials with pore radius in the range of micro and mesoporus (1 and3nm) were obtained fromn a natural clay of the Cuyo region. Argentina. A mixture or silicon-iron oligocations was exchanged with natural clay cations, To obtain intercalated c1ays after the drying and ca1cination al 300 oC and 500 oc. Three samples were prepared: Si/PIlC. were aTEOS Solution was used as the silicon precursor. Fe/PllC by using Fe(NO,)9H,O and Si-Fe/PILC, synthesized with the mixture of precursors. The textural characterization was carried out by nitrogen adsorption - desorption isothenns al 77K. which showed surface areas between 89 and 310m2/g, increasing 10 times the value of natural c1ay surface area. The average pore diameter was between 15 and 27 A, and the total volume was between 0.096 and 0.184cm3/g. The X ray diffraction showed the effect of iron and silicon incorporation in the basal space, and the natural clay structure stability after the pillaring process. The comparison of natural and pillared c1ays, as well as the ll1odification obtained in the synthesis process are also showed.
