Phase transformations in beta- phase CuZn single crystals induced by ion irradiation

In this work the phase tnansformation of beta CuZn alloys under Ar bombardment has been studied. The experiments show that the irradiation with 30 keV Ar ions with of 1 to 6 dpaproduces the formation of close packed structures with basal planes parallel to the (001) bcc planes.
