Resumen:
In recent decades many investigations have been performed on the influence of solar-driven effects on human health. In particular, the incidence rates of different pathologies and diseases have been used to look for any correlations with indices of solar and geomagnetic activity. In the present study we search for associations between the occurrence of cardio-, cerebrovascular and psychiatric diseases among the ambulance calls to the public medical emergency service in Buenos Aires (latitude: 35°) for selected months in the period 1999-2002 with corresponding solar and geomagnetic data. In order to assess the relevance of these results we compare them with correlations between meteorological information (surface temperature) and the same biomedical dataset. In opposition to some previous works (including mid-latitude places), the results of the present study insinuate that the suggested relations between geomagnetic and solar activity and biomedical effects are doubtful.
