Resumen:
CULTURE AND POLITICAL CHALLENGES IN TELEVISION NARRATIVES Of THE 30th ANNIVERSARY OF THE MALVINAS/FALKLANDS WAR The chapter discusses the 30th anniversary of the Malvinas/Falklands war as marked by Argentine television. Five kinds of discourse are identified: (1) The triumphalist nationalist story; 2) the sympathy or lack of it approach; (3) a narrative that focuses on the correlation between the dictatorship?s crimes against humanity and the war; (4) the ?new vision?, which sees war as  against neither the British people nor the islanders; (5) the ?wrong  way? view. A qualitative case-study method has been used, within a mainly Latin American Critical Discourse Analysis framework. The corpus consists of four television programmes, broadcast by over-the-air television channels to commemorate the war anniversary in 2012. The linguistic analysis is grounded in Information Hierarchy Theory, centring on utterance foci. Both modern and postmodern culture are found to underpin discourse, which shows their relevance to everyday life and cultural studies.
