Resumen:
The impact resistance as a relevant property of Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FRC). Although FRC has been successfully applied on pavements, industrial floors, or bridge columns, among other examples, design criteria for impact loadings are still required. The relationship between the results of a novel impact test method and the static behaviour is discussed in this paper. The impact test procedure is described including some examples that demonstrate their low variability and sensibility for evaluating the impact response of FRC incorporating different types and contents of fibres, range of concrete strengths, and coarse aggregate types. While comparing the impact test results with toughness parameters used for FRC classification in accordance with the fib Model Code 2010, specific effects of the fibre types and a good correlation between impact results and the fR3/fR1 ratio of different fibre types were found.
