This paper reports a study of the effect of coarse aggregate characteristics on the mechanical properties of high-strength concrete. Granitic, basaltic and calcareous aggregates were used. Compressive and flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, and stress-strain behavior were analyzed in concrete, mortar, and rocks. Matrix-aggregate bond strength is also evaluated.
