Resumen:
The present work is oriented to the development of a methodology for the design of self-compacting concrete (SCC) by means of the study of cement pates as a first step. It is focused on the selection of the cement – admixtures system and the determination of the dosage of chemical admixtures that approaches the optimum. The Marsh cone and the mini-slump tests are used to evaluate the initial fluidity and their loss along the time in eight Series of pastes prepared with three types of cements and five different chemical admixtures (most of them superplasticizers used in SCC). The obtained results show that these methods are useful for the selection of the optimum content of the superplasticizer and the limit dosages for segregation, as well as for the evaluation of the effectiveness and compatibility between the different combinations of chemical admixtures and cements.
