Resumen:
Branched polypropylenes have been synthesized from two linear polymers: an isotactic polypropylene and a propylene-ethylene random copolymer. The synthesis was performed in two steps. The commercial polymers were grafted with maleic anhydride and then crosslinked with a bifunctional amine by reactive modification. The chemical modifications and changes in molecular structure of the polymers were analyzed combining infrared spectroscopy, size exclusion chromatography and shear and extensional rheology. The results confirm the grafting of anhydride groups and the incorporation of long-chain branches in both linear polymers.
