Resumen:
DISTRIBUTION AND GEOCHEMISTRY OF PHYLLOSILICATES IN SHALLOW LEVELS OF QUEBRADA DE LA MINA PORPHYRY DEPOSIT, SAN JUAN.We present the advances of the study of the hydrothermal alterations and chemical composition of the phyllosilicates in the Quebrada de la Mina deposit (31º 29 ´S, 70º 32´ W) located in the Cordillera Principal of the Province of San Juan (Argentina). The analyzed section 6517700 mN represents a transition environment between a porphyry deposit and a high sulfidationepithermal deposit. Most of the gold observed at shallow levels of QDM is related with disseminated pyrite associated with muscovite and illite (phyllic alteration zone). The compositional variation observed in potassicdioctahedral phyllosilicates, with total Al content (apfu) between 2.45 and 2.85 and Fe+Mg+Mn between 0.3 and 0.7 in areas with high gold grades, could be used as a guide for exploration in shallow environments of porphyry deposits.
