Resumen:
In this short communication we consider the one-dimensional shallow water equations with quadratic friction coupled to a bed-load transport equation. We use the discontinuous Galerkin finite element method to discretize the resulting system of governing equations. Firstly, we verify the model result against the well-known problem of a graded river flowing onto the ocean, and secondly, a reservoir sediment filling problem. Finally, the model is tested with a real case given by the bed evolution data of a trench excavated on the Paraná River bed in Argentina in 1992
