Resumen:
Production systems are constantly subjected to unplanned events such as arrivals of rush orders, raw material delays or equipment breakdowns along with a multitude of interactions in the supply chain demanding automatic on-line rescheduling and tight execution control. For responsiveness and agility at the shop-floor, a distributed manufacturing execution system (MES) based on autonomic units is proposed to overcome the traditional separation between task scheduling and execution control. A novel design and verification methodology for an autonomic MES based on an interaction mechanism between multiple agents which manage orders and resources is proposed. Different scenarios in a multiproduct processing plant were considered to assess disturbance rejection capability and robustness using a simulation model implemented in Netlogo. Results obtained are encouraging.
