Resumen:
The torsional vibrations of a  discrete dynamic system is analyzed. The different parts (motor, gears, axis, mill rolls, etc)  are modeled as a cinematic chain  composed of masses, springs, dampers. The complexities of the analysis include backlash in the gears, transients in the input torque and the introduction of a resilient coupling. The latter not only serves as a coupling device to deal with misalignments but absorbs a large amount of energy through its nonlinearly elastic components. The backlash models the tolerances and wear of the gears and gives place to the so-called "dead zone nonlinearity". The study is first carried out on the cinematic chain without the resilient coupling and with different load conditions. It is shown that very large amplifications occur in the dynamic moments that may severely affect the service life of the system. The inclusion of the resilient coupling with a strong nonlinear behavior diminishes such amplifications considerably.
