Resumen:
The Pampas and the Campos of Argentina, Uruguay and Southern Brazil are an extended grassland located in eastern part of the South American Southern Cone (fig 1). This extended area was inhabited by foragers since the end of the Pleistocene and only in late Holocene times some groups became small- scale horticulturists. How this people lives, how was the variability, both temporal and spatial, of their basic foraging life during millennia, and when and how some of them incorporated horticulture in late times, is the subject of this chapter.
