Expression of FcRII in chronic lymphocytic leukemia B cells.

We have read with interest the paper from Damle et al1 analyzingthe surface membrane phenotype of B lymphocytes in chroniclymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL). The authors stated that the leukemiccells from all B-CLL patients evaluated (irrespective ofimmunoglobulin heavy chain (IgVH) gene mutational status) bearthe phenotype of antigen-experienced B cells based, among otherfeatures, on the very low expression of Fcg receptors type IIb(FcgRIIb, CD32), which is the main isoform of FcgRII in Blymphocytes. We would like to comment on this issue on the basisof our own results, which differ from those of Damle et al.
