Resumen:
A marine origin for a sequence, interbedded with the Tertiary continental sedimentites of the Saguion Formation, along the ESE border of the Salinas Grandes basin, is indicated by sedimentology, lithology and occurrence of ichnites such as Diplocraterion and Teichichnus. Stratigraphical and palaeogeographical evidence suggests that this marine unit is related to the Paranense ingression (Miocene), thus modifying the former known limits of this ingression in the area.
