Resumen:
The Proyecto Interdisciplinario Patagonia Austral (PIPA) proposes a multidisciplinary approach withthe main goal of decoding environmental information archived in lakes located in southern Patagonia,more specifically in Santa Cruz province. To do that, we are currently undertaking a compilation offreshwater organisms, pollen and charcoal from more than 30 lakes to develop biodiversity andecological databases. This information blended with geochemical, geophysical and sedimentologicaldata will allow building transfer functions which, in turn, will be applied to interpret severalQuaternary lacustrine sedimentary records in southern Patagonia.
