An equation to evaluate activity coefficients in binary solutions, which is characterized by giving a good approach to experimental data and by its simplicity, is derived. Activity coefficients for four binary mixtures are calculated using the new equation and they are compared with those obtained by applying Van Laar and Margules equations and with the experimental data.
