Resumen:
The Bahía Blanca estuary, located in the south-west of Buenos Aires Province, covers about
2500 km2. It is conformed by a system of channels separated by islands and wide tidal plains.
This physical characteristic contributes to the system a wide wetland area. The Principal
Channel, located to the north of the estuary, harbors a series of important ports and in the north
veril, main urban centers as Bahía Blanca and Punta Alta.
The tendency for great industrial development, accompanied by the growth of the urban centers
of the northern sector, with progressive advances toward the wetland areas, commits the own
functions affecting this natural system. Through the technique of environmental management,
this work is guided to the study of the symptoms, the causes that motivate them and the effects
or repercussions detected through them, trying to arrive to the tendencies of use of the involved
