Resumen:
In this article, I pay tribute to Eduardo Rabossi by discussing some of his views moral philosophy. I focus on two aspects: his ethical naturalism and his theory of human needs. I argue, contra Rabossi and the other contemporary ethical naturalists, that the core, if not the form, of the Moorean argument is sound. Moreover, I reject Rabossi’s view that human needs can work as a linkage between facts and morality. All this will enable me to suggest a view about progress in moral theory that, I hope, is consistent with some other ideas of Rabossi about philosophy as rational dialogue in general.
