Direct and indirect effects of domestic grazing on carbon and nutrient cycling in a Flooding Pampa grassland

Domestic grazing affects nutrient cycling through direct effects, trampling, feces deposition and biomass removal, and indirect effects, mediated by shifts in plant species composition. We found species effects in a mesocosm experiment that vanished in the field, where direct effects constituted the most important influence of domestic grazing.
