Resumen:
Latin American Creole cattle directly descend from bovinesintroduced by Europeans during the conquest of the Americas.Creole breeds are Taurine cattle adapted for more than 500 yearsof selection in tropical and subtropical environments.Different Creole breeds or ecotypes are present in almost all LatinAmerican countries.Although Creole cattle populations have suffered a drasticreduction during the last century, these native breeds stillconstitute a valuable animal genetic resource of this region.
