Chlorocarbonylfluoroarbonyl disulphide, ClC(O)SSC(O)F, was prepared from bis(fluorocarbony1) disulphide and BCI, . IR data of the vapour, liquid and matrix-isolated CIC(O)SSC(O)F at low temperature together with the Raman spectrum of the liquid suggest the existence of a more abundant non-planar conformer with symmetry C, in both the vapour and liquid phases. For all but the torsional modes of this conformer wavenumbers are reported. However, the valence force constants were calculated by a semi-empirical method. The study was complemented with the characterization of the compound by I9F NMR and mass spectra.
