Abstract: We introduce in a natural way, in the setting of semigroup theory, the fundamental operators associated to the Ornstein -Uhlenbeck and Harmonic Oscilator operators. We present a survey on what it is known en each case, concerning to the boundedness of maxiamal operators of the diffusion semigroups, Riesz transforms and Littlewood Paley theory. For the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck setting we provide a simpler proof of the weak-type (1.1) of the maximal operator.
