Resumen:
The g’-Fe4N nitride has been subject of numerous researches lately due to its capacity to magnetically record information and its high resistance to corrosion when it is fine powder. The addition of Mn to the nitride can improve its magnetic properties. In this work, we studied the evolution of the magnetic, structural and hyperfine system properties with Mn concentration. Samples were prepared by the mechanical alloying of nitride with appropriated amounts of Mn during 15 hours under Ar atmosphere. Since Fe4N phase can be found mixed with other nitrides, and thermal treatment at 693 K under dynamic vacuum was done. The samples were analyzed by Mössbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and hysteresis cycles. The Mn incorporation the Fe3N and a-Fe phases growth while the Fe4N decreases, particularly at the FeII site. There is also a big distortion on hyperfine magnetic field of the Fe3N phase as the Mn content increase. Mössbauer spectroscopy was crucial to determine the phase fraction and determine the Mn substitution site in the crystalline lattice.
