ABSTRACT
Forty years from the beginning of Sierra Grande project, Rio Negro province. In 1968 Sierra Grande department was created belong Dirección General de Fabricaciones Militares in order to study the possibility of mining the ferriferous deposits located in Sierra Grande, Rio Negro province. In 1969 the company Hierro Patagónico de Sierra Grande was constituted which was responsible for the mining of the deposits. The project was carried out applying the modern methodologies, incorporating Swedish equipment of last generation, most of them used for the first time in Argentina.
