Secondary Metabolites from Marine Organisms of Patagonia and the South of de Brazil

In the present talk, the results obtained by my group in the study of secondary metabolites of marine invertebrates of Patagonian and Subantarctic regions will be exposed, especially those obtained from sponges, tunicates, octocorals and bryozoans. The particular characteristics of the Patagonian environments will be exposed, together with the collecting strategies employed in cold, deep, and open waters, where the organization of a diving trip is not easy or safe. The preliminary results with organisms from Santa Catarina, Brazil, arising from a collaborative effort with the natural products group at UFSC will also be presented
