Long-term memory induced by two training trials in the crab Neohelice granulata

Long term memory (LTM) of the crab Neohelice granulata has been studied using training protocols that consist of 15 trials spaced by 3 min intertrial intervals (ITI) [1]. Here, based on previous studies in Aplysia long term facilitation [2], we show a new training protocol of 2 trials with a 45 min ITI, that allows LTM formation. We characterised this new training protocol that represents an attractive model for studying individual trial input and ITI contribution to the activation of molecular pathways that support LTM formation.
