Resumen:
In our recent article [1], we discussed the ways in which thehoneybee waggle dance provides followers with differentkinds of information about food sources, such as theirpresence, odour or location [1]. However, the traditionalinterpretation of dance following, the decoding of spatialinformation (‘dance language’), seems to explain only asmall proportion of following events [2,3]. Therefore, weargued that to understand the means by which the waggledance modulates honeybee-colony foraging, researchersneed to take into account a range of different decisionmakingstrategies of dance followers [1].
