This article deals with a systematization of the experience of an interdisciplinary group of the University of Buenos Aires, the Cosensores group, which has worked horizontally with the Peasants Movement of Santiago del Estero-Via Campesina (MOCaSE-VC) in the development of an affordable biosensor of toxicity in water. The main objective is to show the path traveled, the difficulties carried through, in the university and in the field intervention; and to contribute to the discussion on the orientation of the scientific technological system and the relationship between academic groups and social organizations.
