Resumen:
Hydantoin derivatives possess a variety of biochemical and pharmacological properties and are used to treat many human diseases. They possess good anticonvulsant properties and depending on the nature of substitution on the hydantoin ring, a wide range of other pharmacological properties, including fungicidal, herbicidal, antitumour, antiinflammatory, anti-HIV, hypolipidemic, antiarrhythmic and antihypertensive activities. (SPENGLER, 2010) We present here the antimicrobial activity of two heterocyclic cores, hydantoin and thiohydantoin derivate, named H04 and T04 respectively. Thus, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was measured for each synthesized compound against one bacterial strain: Staphylococcus aureus SA-1199B, which over express the norA gene that encode the NorA efflux protein able to pump hydrophilic fluoroquinolones and other drugs that increase the MIC of antibiotics (KAATZ, 1995). Then, with the same bacteria strain, modulation of antibiotic resistance was carried out in order to study the interaction between the novel compounds and the efflux protein to decrease the MIC of antibiotics.
