ABSTRACT: A general synthetic route to prepare all four carboline regioisomersby photostimulated cyclization of anilinohalopyridines is described. The meth-odology affords various substituted carbolines in good to excellent yields. In thecase of R-carbolines, the SRN1 methodology complements previously reportedpalladium-catalyzed cyclization approaches
