Infrared Micro-spectroscopy (IMS) Analysis: Multilayer Polymer Samples

Shipments of plastic packaging materials have strongly increased in recent years. Flexible packaging materials are complex structures composed by multilayers of several polymers, adhesives, printing inks, coatings, etc. Total thickness is in the range @ 20-100 mm. Characterization of them require also sophisticated analytical tools. The aim of this work is to study the origin of different contaminations in multilayer polymer films using Optical Microscopy (OM) and Infrared Micro-spectroscopy (IMS) analysis.
