Resumen:
We simulate the synthesis of waterborne two-component polyurethanes that offer an attractive approach toward the reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOC). We adapted the Macosko-Miller recursive probabilistic model for average molecular weights and derivation of post gel properties to our reaction system. The emphasis is on cross-linking and the possibility of gelation due to formation of allophanate and biuret. Equations for calculating the gel point, sol fraction, and fraction of elastically active network chains are derived. The model results agree with the trends reported in the literature.
