Resumen:
We have previously demonstrated that hemeoxygenase-1 (HO-1)mRNA is overexpressed in papillary (PTC) and anaplastic (ATC)thyroid tumor compared to non-malignant areas to the tumor (NMT).We also demonstrated that HO-1 protein levels are up-regulated inhuman PTC samples, showing cytoplasmic localization, and suchHO-1 tumor expression correlates with histological subtype. Now,we aim to study the role of HO-1 in thyroid cancer (TC) biology. Tothat end, we evaluated HO-1 expression by indirect immunofluorescence, cell viability by crystal violet method, cell cycle progressionby propidium iodide staining and flow cytometry, and cell migrationby wound healing assay. We found that pharmacological activationof HO-1 using 80μM hemin increased cell viability in TPC-1(p
