Abstract. This paperpresents a contribution to the use of TDICs in rural educational communitieslocated in isolated areas that are beyond the reach of energy distributioncentres. We propose a scenario that enables teachersand students to access the Internet through the use of cell phones andcommunication technologies with low energy consumption. A smart portablephotovoltaic system was developed to power mobile devices. Using the proposedscenario, an experiment was carried out in a school in the province of Salta,the results achieved were positive and highly significant from the educationalpoint of view.
