Resumen:
The biological interaction of lectins and carbohydrates rules many recognitions processes found in living organisms [1]. These interactions can be exploited to develop highly stable lectin and glycoprotein biointerfaces [2,3]. In this work, we constructed carbohydrate layers on gold substrates for the immobilization of the lectin wheat germ agglutinin (WGA). The WGA-modified surfaces were used as arecognition element of glycosylated proteins present in human serum. The lectin-glycoprotein recognition event was evaluated by Resonance Plasmon Spectroscopy (SPR), which has a resolution in the subnanometric scale [4].
