Resumen:
We present the results of a study of the thermal decomposition reaction of formaldehyde diperoxide (DPF) in aqueous solution, within the temperatures range of 403 –439 K and initial concentration equal to 6.22 x10-3 mol/L , respectively. We have found that this chemical reaction follows a first order kinetic law. Besides, formaldehyde is the main organic product observed. The activation parameters values of the initial step of the reaction (DH# = 15.25 ± 0.5 kcal/mol; DS# = -47.78 ± 0.4 cal/mol K; Ea = 16.09 ± 0.5 kcal/mol), support a reaction mechanism which includes a homolytic rupture of one peroxidic bond of the DPF molecule with participation of the solvent and involving a diradical intermediate.
