Resumen:
Nitrogen (N) is one of the macronutrients that is most limiting to maize grain yield. Breeding for N Use Efficiency (NUE) would improve yield with less fertilizer application and the response per unit of N applied. Our objectives were to study phenotypic variability and QTLs detection for NUE and trait related to NUE in a population of recombinant inbred lines (RILs). One hundred and eighty one RILs from the cross B100 x LP2 were phenotyped for NUE, plant N uptake at maturity, protein, the proportion of N in the biomass, N harvest index and the anthesis-silking interval, during the 2009 to 2010 and 2011 to 2012 growing seasons in INTA Pergamino.
