Resumen:
Argentina is the seventh largest country in the world, extending over more than 2,700,000 sq km between 22º lat. S and 55º lat. S, with a N-S length of ca. 3500 km. Twelve physiographic realms, each of them with a distinctive assocciation of climate, relief and superficial geology, could be recognized, including more than ninety fluvial basins and hydrographic regions with hundreds of river channels. Following a zonation of their river morphodynamics, the major regions were divided into some subregions (commonly three or four), attending to location of different channel patterns, rates and modes of channel shiftings, and regime of liquid and solid discharges.
