Descripción:
Different processes were studied at laboratory scale in order to evaluate their feasibility for industrial waste-waters treatment (containing a chemical oxygen demand (COD) higher than 150 ppm). The tested processes were: oxidation with sodium hypochlorite, advanced oxidation process with UV /hydrogen peroxide and oxidation with ozone. The feasibility of the process was evaluated according to its capacity to reach discharge COD values required by the contracting company (COD = 50-75 ppm)The study of a process consisted on a set of experimental runs employing specific equipment such as photo-reactors and perfect mixing reactors. For each tested process, two/three levels of oxidizing agent were used. During each run, samples were taken at different times. The chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total organic carbon (TOC) were analysed in all samples.
