Resumen:
During the last years some proposals of developing an ontological analysis of the economy have appeared in order to ascertain the appropriateness of economic methodology. Nancy Cartwright?s focus on capacities ? stable causes ? actually implies an ontological perspective that she applies to the economy. Uskali Mäki conceives that economic ontology is a prerequisite for understanding economics as science. Tony Lawson also proposes to develop an ontology of the economy as a way of correcting the mistakes of standard economic theory. This paper will first introduce the Aristotelian position on the ontology of economic reality. Aristotle is one of the first metaphysicians and has applied his metaphysical categories to the economic realm. Then, the paper will introduce Cartwright, Mäki and Lawson conceptions and will look for their Aristotelian links.
